Hurricane Zeta is expected to make landfall close to New Orleans Wednesday evening, bringing the city its first direct hit of the hurricane season. Zeta has strengthened again to hurricane status after weakening over the Yucatan peninsula Tuesday and is expected to bring dangerous storm surge and high wind gusts to the southern coast of the U.S. from central Louisiana to the Florida panhandle.
Heavy rainfall is expected Thursday from the U.S. Gulf Coast up into the Tennessee Valley, Ohio Valley, South to Central Appalachians and into the Mid-Atlantic States.
