The Situation:

Vice President Mike Pence plans to visit the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Nogales on

Thursday, 11 April, for a briefing by Customs and Border Protection agents and also to tour the border wall.


Possible Effects:

  • Longer border-crossing wait times

  • Increased security personnel presence

  • Increased traffic or blocked roads


Mitigating Factors to Apply:

  • Allow extra time to travel to/from the airport, supplier, and accommodations

  • Heed instructions from local law enforcement and government authorities

  • Monitor local news and social media for updates

  • Enroll in the Safe Traveler program (STEP) to receive warnings from the U.S. Embassy
