The Situation:
Unite Here, which represents airline catering workers, planned demonstrations at 18
airports including, but not limited to, those in Charlotte, Chicago (ORD), Dallas, Denver,
Detroit, Honolulu, Houston (IAH), Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Newark, New York
(JFK), Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington National
(DCA).
The union expects the number of demonstrators at each airport to range from about 200 to
as many as 1,000 at JFK.
The demonstrations represent the union’s latest effort to secure improvements in pay,
health care and working conditions for airport caterers, who prepare the food for onboard
service.
Flight delays and cancellations are possible.

Delayed or cancelled flights
Protests or demonstrations at airports, which may draw large crowds
Traffic delays and blocked roads, especially near airports
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Check with airport to confirm flight status before departure
Avoid all protests and demonstration, which have the possibility of turning violent
Allow extra time for travel
Monitor local media and news for updates
