The Situation:
Tropical Storm Francisco is currently tracking to hit southern Japan late Monday afternoon
into Tuesday. It will continue on to affect South Korea by Tuesday night.
A second storm is developing behind Francisco: Tropical Depression Lekima is expected to
intensify as it moves over warm waters this week and tracks towards mainland Japan on
Friday into the weekend. The chance of it affecting South Korea depending on track it takes
as it develops this week.
Possible Effects:
Heavy rainfall could lead to landslides and flooding in already saturated areas
Downed trees, hindering rescue/recovery efforts
Traffic delays
Cancelled and/or delayed flights
Power outages in homes and places of work
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Monitor local news and weather media for updates
Allow extra time for travel
Avoid traveling through flooded areas
Keep extra bottled water in lodging
Keep electronics charged
Check with airline for possible flight delay or cancellation
