The Situation:
As part of strikes that began in December in response to President Macron’s pension reform plan, several unions around the country are calling for new national strikes on 14, 15, and 16 January with possible strikes and demonstrations planned over the following weekend.
Despite a major concession on the retirement age from the PM, strikes continue, primarily affecting transportation services.
Possible Effects:
Protest or demonstrations, especially near government buildings, city centers, and airports
Delayed and/or cancelled flights
Disruptions to public transportation
Fuel shortages
Traffic in the vicinity of protests
Increased presence of security personnel, such as local police
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Avoid all protests and large crowds, which have the possibility of turning violent
Check flight status prior to departure to the airport
Allow extra time for travel
Maintain a full fuel tank, if driving
