The Situation:
Intense heat is forecast across western and central Europe over the next week with peak
days on Wednesday and Thursday.
This unexpected heatwave has been caused by "a storm stalling over the Atlantic Ocean and high pressure over central and eastern Europe", according to international weather site AccuWeather.
Cities in Spain, France, Belgium, and Germany may see temperatures near or above 32-
40°C (90-104°F). Other European countries may also be affected.
Mitigation Measures to Consider:
Drink plenty of water
Stay indoors when possible
Avoid strenuous activities
Wear light clothing
Be mindful of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke
