Situation:
Climate protesters Extinction Rebellion Scotland are to disrupt roads in Edinburgh today as they begin a week of “targeted action”
The group, who occupy a campsite outside the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood, have planned the action to coincide with amendments being made to the Climate Bill on 18 and 25 June
They demand that Scotland commits to “lead the world” and legislate for a Climate Citizens Assembly and to meet a target of producing net zero emissions by 2025
The group plans to disrupt traffic in central Edinburgh later today and throughout the week
So far, six protesters have been arrested after allegedly locking themselves together and blocking a road during a climate change rally in Edinburgh
