Situation:
Parts of Cape Town have been flooded after heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
On Wednesday morning, some roads in the city were inaccessible. More flooding is
expected Thursday as another cold front will pass over the metropole with rainfall that will
lead to more localized flooding, particularly in areas where flooding has already occurred.
Possible Effects:
Flooding in low-laying areas
Downed trees
Power outages
Possible road closures, detours, and travel delays
Mitigating Factors to Apply:
Monitor local news and weather media for updates
Heed any evacuation orders
Allow extra time for travel
Avoid traveling through flooded areas
Keep extra bottled water in lodging
Keep electronics charged
Check with airlines for possible flight delays or cancellations
